Surat Doctor Found Dead, Inquiry Launched Into Allegations of Harassment
A committee has been formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a doctor in Surat, following allegations of harassment by seniors.
A doctor identified as Harsh Pandya was found dead in his hostel room in Surat, Gujarat. He had been working as a resident doctor in the Microbiology Department at the New Civil Hospital while pursuing postgraduate studies for the past six months.
In light of the incident, Gujarat's Minister of State for Health, Praful Pansheriya, ordered an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death and directed that a report be submitted within 24 hours.
Reports from fellow students suggested that Harsh had experienced repeated mental harassment by senior doctors, leading to significant distress. In response, four senior doctors have been suspended as part of the ongoing investigation.
