Poland seeks €80 million in compensation for incidents in Italy

The PBUK, the body representing the Polish insurance system for international claims, has launched approximately 500 recourse actions seeking a total compensation of €80 million. These proceedings aim to recover amounts paid for accidents caused in Italy by Polish-registered vehicles operating without insurance coverage.

The situation is particularly alarming in Naples, where the number of cars and scooters registered in Poland has significantly increased in recent years. This phenomenon has led to a rising incidence of traffic accidents, further exacerbating the issue for the Polish insurance system.

In response to this problem, the Polish government has expressed its intention to remove from registration the Polish-registered cars operating in Italy without the necessary insurance coverage.
