According to RMC Sport, this raid occurs amidst tensions between the main supporters' group of Galatasaray and individuals linked to rival club Fenerbahçe. The ultras leader's criticisms regarding the minister's alleged ties to Fenerbahçe appear to have triggered the police intervention.
In addition to the large sum of money, authorities reportedly also seized a weapon during the raid at the supporter’s home. The sale of tickets on the black market is said to be central to the accusations against him, according to reports by L'Équipe.
