The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has confirmed eight fatalities resulting from the impact of the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, along with the effects of tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay as of Monday morning.

Data collected by the NDRRMC indicates that at least 34,400 people have sought refuge in evacuation centers due to the adverse weather conditions.

In contrast, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has reported a higher toll, stating that twelve individuals have died as a result of the same weather events, with eight others still missing and eleven reported injuries.

The discrepancies in reported casualties highlight the challenges of accurate data collection during such incidents, as the ongoing situation continues to evolve. Reports indicate the conditions faced by communities across affected regions.
