Easyjet acquired by investor Apollo

Easyjet, the British airline, is being acquired by Apollo Global Management, an American investment firm. Apollo is making a bid of £5.7 billion, which is approximately €6.7 billion.

This acquisition comes after Easyjet has been involved in a takeover battle for some time. In May 2023, the American investment company Castlelake made an offer of £6.90 per share.

In July 2023, Apollo entered the fray with an increased bid of £7.15 per share. Ultimately, Easyjet opted for Apollo's offer, indicating that this bid was successful.

Founder and major shareholder Stelios Haji-Ioannou has announced his support for Apollo's bid. This could influence the acceptance of the takeover by other shareholders.
